About

Sean Carlton was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1971. His family moved to Corpus Christi Texas in 1974, where his dad served two years active duty in the Navy. They moved to Loveland, Colorado in 1976.

Sean has been writing incessantly since the seventh grade. His first fiction short story, a terrible rip off of Don Pendleton's long running The Executioner, was rightfully panned by his English teacher. Thankfully his civics teacher redirected his energy into writing a defense of the right to vote, which inspired his passion for non-fiction. Thank you Mrs. Langford!

He was a columnist for his high school newspaper, and thanks to another of his favorite teachers, Mrs. Morgan, his newspaper advisor, his writing continued to develop, albeit at a juvenile pace. His article Childers abducted by green frogmen was better than most, which is quite telling.

Sean received his bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1993. His friend Jason Ford flew out for his twenty-first birthday, and their wine tasting celebration inspired him to move to Napa, California upon graduation. Sean worked for Pine Ridge Winery from 1994 to 2001. He married Chenin Cilurzo in 2000. In 2001, Pine Ridge sent Sean to Oregon to be the General Manager of Archery Summit Winery.

Sean and Chenin started Basket Case Wines/Twist Wine Company in 2006. They have been producing small batch wines for twenty years and have a tasting room in Pacific City, Oregon. There isn't a prettier beach in the world! Come see why Pacific City is called 'a small drinking town with a fishing problem'.

Twenty Degrees is technically Sean's third book. You can read about the demise of his first book, Arctic Countdown, in the Introduction to Twenty Degrees. It died a horrible death after the first draft, so he doesn’t really count it as a completed book. Funny Farm, his first completed book, is tentatively scheduled for a fall 2027 release.
